BIG fan of the original Quest hardware, I use mine a lot, but Oculus / Facebook's decision to make merging your Facebook social media account with your Oculus account mandatory is a an issue for me personally. The fact that Quest 2 REQUIRES this day 1 is a problem, things like this don't usually bother me and I'm as far from a tinfoil hat wearing dude as is humanly possible, but it's the one thing preventing me taking advantage of the (amazing) value on offer here. Right now, I'm in two minds whether or not to open the box or return the unit to the store. Maybe I'll keep it, not sure arrghh! what to do, what to do DankMemes replying to QuackShot Thumb-upIcon for thumb-up 1 Thumb-downIcon for thumb-down 0 ClockIcon for clock 10 days Yeah this definitely sucks and you cant trust Facebook with a barge pole. Also...I bought it too. We are suckers aren't we :( QuackShot replying to DankMemes Thumb-upIcon for thumb-up 1 Thumb-downIcon for thumb-down 0 ClockIcon for clock 10 days **"We are suckers aren't we"** Haha, yeah. On the flipside, I opened it and ........it's great, really good in fact. Much shaper image than the orignal Quest and everything is "snappier" only negative I've noticed so far is that the black levels were better on the original (OLED vs LCD display). It is noticable, but the improvements in overall processing power coupled with the sharper display and smaller form factor more than make up for it. Happy overall :) Asa replying to QuackShot Thumb-upIcon for thumb-up 0 Thumb-downIcon for thumb-down 0 ClockIcon for clock 10 days Expand. What are you playing? Have you got a PC to try out the big stuff? QuackShot replying to Asa Thumb-upIcon for thumb-up 0 Thumb-downIcon for thumb-down 0 ClockIcon for clock 9 days E X P A N D E D I've played The Walking Dead Saints and Sinners, Beat Sabre, Tetris Effect, Moss, Pistol Whip, Job Simulator, The Climb, Arizona Sunshine and a few other minor titles I can't recall. I played all these games first on the original Quest, now upgraded to Quest 2 with the exception of The Walking Dead which I played first on Quest 2 then retrospectively compared to the original Quest. There's a difference on Quest 2, but overall at this stage I'd say that an upgrade is not essential. Currently both Quest and Quest 2 play the same games. There *may be a reduction in foveated rendering on Quest 2 and it does have a sharper image with a reduction in "screen door" effect, but otherwise, they're pretty similar. The original Quest is a more "premium" product without a doubt with better IPD adjustment, OLED display and strap, although you can buy a seperate "elite" strap for Quest 2. I have a Dell Precision Laptop with a 8 Core Xeon CPU and Quadro RTX 3000 GPU (2070 equiv) - I've played a fair bit of PC VR. Although Oculus Link is decent and does a good job of PC VR, to me it's a secondary function with the focus being on the Quest standalone way of playing the game, having said that PC VR is fine on the Quest and Quest 2 via the link though I don't think it's as good as a "dedicated" headset.
